The United States continues to experience a public health crisis related to unprecedented fatal overdoses involving narcotics. In response, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) has leveraged its cyber investigative experience and developed newly implemented strategies to proactively attack the supply chain, distribution networks, and illicit proceeds of transnational organized crime groups operating within the darkweb to traffic in fentanyl and other highly dangerous narcotics.  HSI Deputy Assistant Director Mike Prado, who leads the DHS Cyber Crimes Center, will discuss HSI’s lead role in this fight, and highlight the dangers online narcotics trafficking presents to communities across the United States and around the world. You will hear how HSI’s innovative investigative strategies utilize the latest technologies to address this threat from a cybercrime perspective and how you can assist law enforcement in protecting your communities.
