Michael Fabian

Michael Fabian is a Principal Consultant with the Synopsys Software Integrity Group, one of the world’s largest consulting firms on application security, where he works in the embedded systems practice. As a Principal Consultant, he is primarily involved in adapting and bringing systems level security objectives, processes, and technical solutions into a variety of non-traditional cyber systems in a multiple industries. These industries include industrial control systems, medical, automotive, pharmaceutical manufacturing, electronics manufacturing, transportation, and many others.

Prior to Synopsys, Michael was a founding member of the Professional Services division of Wurldtech Security Technologies, which specialized in cyber-physical systems in the Oil and Gas and Utilities industries. With the explosion of security concerns in other adjacent industries, Michael grew the practice and expanded technical consulting to face new challenges. He developed several assessment methodologies and performed those assessments for several major equipment manufacturers and system operators. Wurldtech was purchased by General Electric in 2015.

Michael also performed assessments and requirements development as a Lead Security Engineer at GE Digital Energy, focused on Smart Grid solutions existing and in development.

Michael is a US Expert for the IEC/TC 65, working on the 62443 series of standards related to security objectives and processes for industrial and cyber-physical systems. Michael’s education includes both Information Security and Systems Engineering specializations.
