Dr. Radu Pavel is vice president, chief technology officer of TechSolve, Inc. Dr. Pavel has over 24 years of mechanical and manufacturing engineering experience developed in industry, research laboratories and universities from Europe and United States. He has a PhD in mechanical engineering, and a PhD in manufacturing engineering. Dr. Pavel is chair of the Executive Committee of Manufacturing Extension Division of ASME and Associate Editor of Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering (JMSE) of ASME. Dr. Pavel started at TechSolve in 2004 as a machining/grinding engineer and gradually developed expertise in digital technologies associated with manufacturing and design. Starting in 2017, for 2 years, Dr. Pavel led the state-sponsored Smart Manufacturing Program focused on accelerating the adoption of digital manufacturing technologies by the small and medium size manufacturing companies. Among other focus areas, the program aimed to create awareness and educate manufacturers on cybersecurity, particularly in the context of increased connectivity of manufacturing assets (OT) to industrial internet of things (IIoT), and compliance requirements with new DFARS and standards. In his current position, Dr. Pavel continues to support TechSolve’s efforts focused on identification, evaluation, demonstration and dissemination of cybersecurity technologies for manufacturers.
