Chris McMasters

Mr. McMasters has spent over 2 decades in IT leadership. As a CIO in the private sector he built IT departments that allowed scalability in fast growing business environments. Leading transformation in the organization by driving highly complex projects that were instrumental in automation, measureable ROI, and creating new sources of revenue. With a people first methodology to technology and an innovative approach to business challenges, he garnered Computerworld’s Premier 100 IT Leaders award for IT Leadership.

He accepted the challenge of taking a position in the public sector with the City of Corona, CA in 2016 to lead IT operations as their first CIO and has started to bring IT from the back office to the front as they develop a data driven smart city. He most recently has been working with The What Works Cites initiative through the Bloomberg Philanthropies organization. Collaborating with Results for America, John Hopkins GovEx and the Government Performance Lab at Harvard to change the way Cities do business. Microsoft became both a platform and partner of that change using Azure Cloud, Office 365 and Fast Track services. McMasters and his team were able to bring private sector efficiencies and business intelligence tools to a traditional technologically slow sector. That process was recognized by the Center for Digital Government whom awarded the City of Corona in 2018 as Digital Cities Survey winner and again for 2019.
