Carly Sherrod

Carly Sherrod is a native North Carolinian with a passion for leading and optimizing cybersecurity initiatives with a whole-of-state approach. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a certified advanced security practitioner. In her current role as the Deputy State Chief Risk Officer for the North Carolina Department of Information Technology she serves as one of the leading state representatives of the North Carolina Joint Cybersecurity Task Force.

Her experience in varying aspects of public service, cybersecurity, and information technology systems ranging from technical rescue operations to information security practices of patient and clinic data to cyber threat intelligence, cyber vulnerability management, and cyber incident responses affords her unique insights into business continuity and cyber resiliency. She has been immersed in cybersecurity threat intelligence and cyber incident response and recovery efforts for the last three years and, has participated in more than 40 unique significant cyber incidents impacting the public and private sectors.
