With over 20 years of experience, Marcia is a recognized leader in Data Privacy, Security Risk Management, and Security Governance. She is known for her ability to achieve the ideal balance between risk mitigation and business objectives.
Marcia’s journey to success started in her native country of Brazil, where she began her career as a software engineer. After moving to the United States, she discovered her passion for security. Marcia has led security teams at a diverse set of companies, including Rally Health, Verizon, and FTI Consulting.
Currently, Marcia serves as the Chief Information Security Officer at Upside - a retail technology company, leading both the Information Technology and Information Security teams. In addition to her role at Upside, Marcia is a board member of Suited For Change, a DC-area non-profit organization with a mission to equip women in need on their path to financial independence by providing them with professional attire, coaching, and skills training.
