Anil is a seasoned information security executive with 30+ years of global experience in building, maturing, and turning around enterprise technology risk management program(s). He most recently served as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for Exeter Finance. He has been charged with technology governance and maturing assurance programs at two Blackstone portfolio companies. Under his leadership, as a 6x CISO - Anil had direct responsibility for setting strategic direction on IT security, risk, regulatory compliance mandates, and privacy matters. He has been engaged to support sensitive M&A due diligence efforts, carve out activities, and has fostered key strategic relationships across boardrooms by focusing on managing risk and not promoting fear.
Anil is a sitting Board member at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in developing their graduate Master's Cyber and incubator programs. He holds numerous security certifications and most recently completed the Global Policy in Cybersecurity program at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. He has served as a thought leader for Sony Electronics, American Express, PayPal, and others on elevating risks to audiences inclusive of the Board and C-suite. He is co-moderator of Fireside Chat podcast that highlights and demystifies guest(s) varying journeys on the path to leadership (Fireside Chat with Cyber, Tech & Privacy Leaders). Anil is a recognized and sought-after international speaker on topics ranging from security innovation to management principles on the business of security.
He is also co-author of the CISO Mentor: Pragmatic advice for emerging risk management leaders, where all book proceeds are earmarked to support scholarships for those pursuing careers in Cyber or STEM fields.
