Joe Scargill – Data Connectors

Joe Scargill is the Special Agent in Charge of the Minneapolis Field Office for the United States Secret Service, where he leads all Secret Service protective, investigative and cyber missions in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. His global experience with the Secret Service has spanned more than 21 years in a variety of assignments. Special Agent Scargill started his career in the Columbus, Ohio Resident Office.  Following that assignment, Special Agent Scargill was selected as an instructor at the James J Rowley Training Academy, where all special agent trainees as well as assigned special agents and uniformed division officers receive their training.  Following that assignment, Special Agent Scargill was selected as the Assistant Attaché to the US Embassy in Sofia, Bulgaria. During his time abroad, Special Agent Scargill traveled extensively throughout Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa conducting numerous high risk protective advances for the President of the United States, as well as, conducting complex cyber enabled fraud investigations targeting organized international criminal groups. Special Agent Scargill’s work overseas culminated with the Europol case of the Year: Operation Nightshade.  Operation Nightshade was a cyber-fraud investigation into an Eastern European criminal enterprise resulting in the arrest of over 70 defendants in 7 countries.  

Special Agent Scargill was then promoted to the Assistant to the Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit, MI Field Office.  During his time there, Special Agent Scargill established the Michigan Electronic Crimes Task Force – the first of its kind in the state of Michigan.  Prior to his current assignment as the Special Agent in Charge of the Minneapolis Field Office, he served as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the George HW Bush Protection Division in Houston, TX.

Decorated Agent who led George HW Bush Presidential Protection.  His work culminated in the Europol case, “Operation Nightshade,” exposing an Eastern European criminal enterprise resulting in the arrest of over 70 defendants in 7 countries.
