Amy Nicewick – Data Connectors

Amy Nicewick is currently the Communications Management Section Chief in the Cybersecurity Division of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). In her role at CISA, Ms. Nicewick oversees the publication and dissemination of internal strategic communications, as well as technical cybersecurity information via the CISA.gov website and the Homeland Security Information Network (HSIN). Currently, Ms. Nicewick also serves as co-lead for CISA’s Ransomware Awareness Campaign.

Prior to joining CISA, Ms. Nicewick was the owner and President of SalusSec, LLC, a security certifications services company, for which she developed an online software package to assist technology vendors in navigating the difficult Common Criteria information security evaluation process. Common Criteria is an international security standard that meets the FISMA mandate for Sensitive But Classified information systems used by the Federal Government.

For more than three years, Ms. Nicewick served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of an information security certifications consultancy (Common Criteria, FIPS 140-2, and UC APL).  Her responsibilities included staffing and leadership of the engineering team, as well as production of high-quality services at gross margins of 65 percent or more. In this role, she also developed new processes and procedures, and oversaw the deployment of new systems for the growing company. Prior to her appointment as COO, Ms. Nicewick served as a project manager for the same company and as a Security Engineer prior to that.

Early in her career Ms. Nicewick worked as a Programmer/Systems Analyst, performing design, coding, and testing of applications for internal and external clients, as well as serving as an on-site consultant for clients.
